OK, I will admit it – I really don’t like cutting down plastic rod into smaller segments to make depth charges. Call me lazy, but for me there is no joy in the process and
it can be hard to make them all exactly the same size and have the ends perfectly straight. That is why I am happy to see this set from Rainbow Model.

Rainbow Model Set Rb 3545 provides a total of 40 turned brass Imperial Japanese Navy depth charges that are a consistent size. Modelers will need to remove a tiny
nub on each end of the brass part, which is a by-product of the CNC machining process. The set also provides a photo-etch brass fret with relief etched end caps for
the brass depth charges, so they have some detail and not just have a plain face. A single page of instructions are provided which illustrates the obvious assembly steps
for this accessory. The bottom half of the page shows examples of how depth charges were stowed on IJN ships, but as the sheet states, the storage racks are not
included.
Now if you prefer the do-it-yourself route and would rather make your own depth charges from plastic rod, then have at it. Personally, I would rather take the easy
way and use this set for my Imperial Japanese Navy models when applicable. With parts to make a total of 40 depth charges, you can get a lot of mileage from this
accessory set without the effort. My thanks to Rainbow Model for providing the review sample.
