Almost everyone has heard of Starfighter Decals. The company produces a huge array of decals and other products to supplement existing model kits, usually of USN aircraft carriers to aircraft. These range from entire air wings, to hangar markings to individual squadrons. This is the Starfighter set for the Black Aces, VF-41 in the period 1979-1980 when the Black Aces were assigned to the USS Nimitz. Established on September 1, 1950 at Oceana Naval Air Station, the Black Aces have flown a wide variety of aircraft from various aircraft carriers. In April 1976 the Black Aces were equipped with the Grumman F-14A Tomcat and by September 1977 they were part of CVW-8, assigned to USS Nimitz (CVN-68). This set, although not new, is still perfect for decorating 1:350 scale Tomcats and was designed specifically for the Tamiya 1:350 scale Tomcats. The sheet has markings for six of the fighters and features crisp, clear decals, perfectly in register. The colors are right and a wide variety of aircraft markings are included from the Ace of Spades markings for the tail, to squadron and ship lettering, to wing flashes for the starboard wing, to fuselage markings. The individual aircraft numbers are 100, 102, 104, 106, 110 and 112.
